From time to time I meet with other Collaborative Divorce Attorneys that I recommend. Why do I recommend my competition you might ask? Because for starters – what goes around comes around. Second, collaborative divorce is a new and emerging practice area, and frankly, there aren’t that many of us out there. In order for my business to do well, I must have other Collaborative Lawyers that are willing to work on cases with me. So the more of us that are out there, the more likely we are to all succeed.
During the past week I met with Aida Doss Havel and Mark Springfield. Aida was a litigator for many years before seeing the light and realizing that Collaborative Law is the wave of the future for divorce attorneys. Mark is a huge advocate for Collaborative Law, and is a member attorney at Separating Together in Raleigh, where his practice is limited to 100% collaborative cases (as mine soon will be).
If you are thinking about a collaborative divorce, I would be happy to talk to you about your options and, with your permission, send a nice letter (not one of those pesky demand letters that lawyers are all too happy to send) to your spouse that introduces them to collaborative law and gives them a list of attorneys to go see.
